Hello, Simply Passionate Life! This year is days away from being over but that doesn't mean that there isn't still time for God to blow your mind! Take a look at the behind the scenes for my recent collaboration with the "Black and..." Movement!
This day was full of major keys from the moment I woke up for the day to the moment I walked back through my front door that night!I was reminded to be patient, take your time, make sure you have the proper tools, and, although you may have to work a little harder to enhance your them, embrace your God-given gifts! But most of all, I was reminded that delay is not denial in life! When you become patient with your process and treat yourself well along the way; you will actually enjoy reaching your goals MUCH MORE once "you arrive"! This is something I rehearse in my mind daily and whenever I forget I am reminded of my sister's words, "be nice to yourself!" If only we could all do this more!
This experience was one of those "be nice to yourself" moments! When the opportunity arose to participate in this photoshoot I tried to come up with a mental Rolodex of how I was "too busy" and "didn't have time for anything else!" I am so glad I didn't listen to my initial self-forgetting thoughts! (YES I HAVE THEM TOO!) As women, it is so easy for us to intentionally forget ourselves and mask it as devotion or selflessness! This is one habit I am leaving in 2017 as I vow to end with a bang!
This rejuvenation in "self-remembrance", was reinforced by Chanel at Mac in Atlantic Station! During our time, she asked me to give her more information about my skin and I replied, "it's mom skin... I like to keep it simple!" It was in this moment that I realized, although I felt like I prioritize "self-care", I still have a way of ignoring my health and using motherhood as my excuse! I am ending 2017 with the understanding that I teach my daughters what it means to care for themselves through the effort I place in my own care! There is nothing selfish about that!
By the time I was all dolled up and fabulous, my confidence and energy level was out of the roof! This turned out to be the adrenalin I needed to make it through the drizzling weather with this natural afro! #thestrugglewasreal All in all, I was beyond grateful to be amongst women that I admire in life, love, and business! Each diva present embodies being simply passionate in more than one way and it was an honor to be a part! It is crazy to think that I may have blocked my own blessing by over thinking this opportunity! The only way to truly end this year with a bang is to be bold and fearless! I am excited to take this spirit into 2018 as I embrace my theme of "faithfully focused" in the new year!
My prayer is that I will continue to encourage each of you to find more ways to trust the process, embrace God's love for you, enjoy the simple moments and treat yourself well! We are on this journey together; I am just grateful you are along for the ride! May 2018 be your most simply passionate year yet! Cheers to us!
I love you so so much!
